Starting a blog can be an exciting and rewarding experience, but one of the most common questions new bloggers have is, “How many articles do I need to start a blog?” The answer to this question is complex as several factors must be considered.
The questions that every bloggers asked...
How many articles do I need to have before I launch my blog?
First, it's essential to understand that you must have no magic number of articles before starting a blog. Some bloggers launch their sites with just one or two pieces, while others prefer to have a backlog of several articles before they go live. Ultimately, the number of articles you need to start a blog will depend on your goals, resources, and personal preferences.
There are no magic number really...!
I highly recommend posting at least five articles, though, and I will tell you why.
When new readers stumble across your blog, they will be curious about what you have to say. Having a few good articles already written will give your new reader a chance to get to know you and take a small peek into what your blog will be about.
After reading them, they’ll decide whether or not they want to come back and read more or if they’re not interested. If you have less than five good articles, I wouldn’t recommend launching your blog yet.
Right off the bat, you want to give your readers a decent amount of your talents and ideas. If you don’t put out enough, you risk your readers losing interest before you get going. You want to avoid having too little when you launch.
Many new bloggers make the mistake of launching their blogs before a single article is even posted. This is a wrong move. You’ll draw new readers in, and when they see that you have no content, they will be very uninterested and, more than likely, never check your blog out again. If you wow from the get-go, you’ll draw people in immediately, and as long as you keep putting out content, you’ll keep them around.
Things to consider...
That being said, there are a few things to keep in mind when deciding how many articles to publish before launching your blog:
1. Quality over quantity
2. Consistency is key
3. Consider your niche
4. Set realistic goals
How much should I write in one post / article?
Every blog is different, and there is no limit on how much you can write. It is your blog, and you make the rules. So, be as creative as you want to be. Still, however, if you’re curious about the average amount, a typical article is around 700-1200 words. If you find that a particular piece is exceptionally long because you have a lot to say, consider breaking it up into multiple articles to make it more convenient for your readers.
How often should I post to my blog?
There are no set rules to how often you should post an article.
However, posting at least once a week is highly suggested. Some bloggers publish twice or thrice a week; the more you can do, the more readers you will get! When readers discover that they love what you say, they will want to read more and more.
It is essential to keep up with the demand as best you can. If you don’t post for weeks or months, your readers might think you’ve abandoned the blog, and they’ll find another blog to peruse. The more you post, the tighter grip you will have on your readers, and that’s precisely what you want.
